How to Keep an Answered Prayer Journal

A simple way to record answered prayers so you can remember God’s faithfulness and encourage others.

Israel built stones of remembrance so they wouldn’t forget what God had done. An answered prayer journal is the same idea: a record of moments when God moved, so that on hard days you can look back and remember.

“I will remember Yah’s deeds; for I will remember your wonders of old.”
Psalm 77:11 (WEB)

What to record

  • The date you started praying and who it was for.
  • What you asked for, in one sentence.
  • What happened and when, even if it wasn’t what you expected.
  • One line of thanks.

Count the “not yet” and the “no” too

Not every prayer is answered the way we hoped. Writing down the unexpected answers, and the peace God gave while waiting, is part of an honest journal.

Share testimonies with care

Answered prayers encourage others, but they belong to the person you prayed for. Ask before you share their story.

In Lift, every person you pray for has a place to record how God answered. Your answered prayers are counted on the Today screen, so you can see God’s faithfulness add up over time.
